Hi, it's Angelique Millis at Life Gym. Today, we're gonna be talking about how to use a hyperextension back machine. So the hyperextension machine is designed to target your lower back and you have to be careful on this one because if you go up too high you can end up actually hurting the back so it's really important to keep your spine straight. What you want to do is you're gonna begin by standing into the machine and want to bring your calves so that they're supported by the back of the pads and so you're gonna lower down, you can grab a plate and make it a little bit more challenging, bring a plate across your chest or you can actually just do no plate and put your hands on your head. You want to lower down towards the floor, exhaling out and you're gonna lift yourself right back up and inhale as you do so. Make sure that you don't arch your back, that's the main thing I want you to focus on is not arching the back keeping it straight and just squeezing the back. You're gonna feel also a gentle tug in your hamstrings so that's really when you know when you're going full range of motion.
