Hi, I'm Nick Webster, and I'm here to answer the question how to improve power in soccer. The reason we want to improve our power is we want to be able to run faster, jump higher, shoot harder and win those 50/50 challenges against our opponents. Here are a couple of tips that will help you improve your power in soccer. The first exercise I want to look at is squats. They keep the leg muscles nice and strong. Begin by standing with feet shoulder width apart while keeping the spine straight and the buttocks sticking out. Slowly lower your body until your knees are at a 90 degree angle. Slowly raise your body until you are back into the starting position. Do ten reps. Step two, sprinting engages the fast twitch muscles in the quads and hamstrings. Two days of sprinting per week should help to increase the muscle mass in your legs. Each time you perform this routine you should be able to increase your sprinting length. Lastly there is power jumps. Being explosive is great for going for those headers in the air. The key is to do them quickly with a lot of power and to get as much height as possible. As you jump in the air, drive your knees to your chest and do 20 reps. Do five sets of 20 reps. These three techniques will really help you improve your power in soccer.
