Hi, I'm Linden Schaffer, and I'm here today to talk to you about how to put good bacteria into your stomach. We need those probiotics and good bacteria to keep us healthy and to combat things such as ulcers, food poisoning and certain viruses. Many times some of the things that we can ingest on a daily basis actually kill that good bacteria in our system. Those things can be over-the-counter drugs, prescriptions, cigarettes and alcohol. So now that we know what we are doing to kill the good bacteria in our stomach, how do we turn it around and add that good bacteria back? Actually fermented foods are the best way to go. Miso paste which you have probably had at a Japanese restaurant in Miso soup is fantastic. You can buy this in the grocery store and use it to either make your own soup or marinades for your fish or even use it as a condiment to put on your sandwiches. Something like konbucha which you've probably seen lately, is a fermented tea and you can find this at the grocery store as well. It comes in a bunch of different flavors and often has some added vitamins to it which is fantastic and last you can look for kefir. Kefir is actually a cultured milk product that you can find in the drinkable yogurt section of the grocery store and this is a great probiotic to add to your diet for all these immunity boosting properties. Fermented foods can be an acquired taste. I totally understand. They are great for you but if you are looking for some other solutions, talk to your doctor. Probiotics come in many forms but you want to make sure that you are finding the right ones that are good for your body.
