JEFF COHEN: Hello, I am Jeff Cohen. In this segment, we are going to talk about how to hit the ball cross court. For those of you who are right handed, you want to make sure that your hips and your stance is a little bit more open. To give you an example, right now my hips are completely open. Now, my hips are completely closed. So a little trick is to think about lining your right-side pocket up in the backhand corner. That will help line your hips up towards the target area. So once again, if you are right-handed and you are going to hit a backhand cross court, line your right-side pocket up to your target and you just keep the path of the racket moving towards your target line. On the forehand side, it's pretty much the same thing. So now, if you are right-handed and you are going to hit a cross-court forehand, once again your hips are going to be a little bit more open. They are not going to be closed like this. A little bit more open, you are going to line your left-side pocket up to the intended target. Your point of contact on the forehand and the backhand is going to be off of your front foot. So it is really not much of a change in the stroke whether you are going to go cross court or down the line. The big determining factor is point of contact and position of your hips.
