SAMUEL ROBERTS: Hi, this is Sam Roberts, your field hockey coach. In this segment, we will talk about playing defense in field hockey. As a defensive player, there are different ways of attacking or tackling the opponent. You can just gauge them. There's a jab where you just jab at the ball. You usually just jab the ball to take the control of it. That's one. The other one is where you actually can swing. You can swing at the ball as long you do it with the stick. That's a swing tackle. Another way of tackling is if he's coming on my reverse side, I can tackle that way on my reverse stick. That's another way of tackling. Again, that's a jab. That's a swing tackle, or there's a reverse stick. I can also guide him where I want to go by giving him the opportunity to go that way and lead him away from the goal. That's another form of a defensive move.
