1. Use Herbal Treatments With Your Doctor's Approval
Herbs can provide an effective, natural treatments for your gallstones, but you shouldn't use them with a doctor's supervision. Make a list of all medications, vitamins and other supplements you currently take, and let your doctor know of any drug allergies you have before you start an herbal-treatment regimen. Your physician also must learn your entire medical history, including any major illnesses and medication allergies experienced by close family members. Herbal remedies may be available without a prescription, but they can be harmful to those with certain conditions. For example, people with a history of alcoholism should not take tincture forms of herbs, as many tinctures can contain 90-percent grain alcohol.

You may have some success dissolving small gallstones by taking peppermint-oil supplements. Enteric tablets in dosages of 0.2 ml each can be safely taken up to three times a day between meals. Peppermint is also used to soothe an upset stomach and aid digestion, so it may relieve your nausea as well.
3. Brew Therapeutic Herbal Teas
A group of herbs called choleretic herbs may reduce cholesterol in your bile, which can help dissolve gallstones. Milk thistle, globe artichoke, dandelion root and turmeric fall into this category and can be easily brewed into a tea.
