Skin tags, benign or noncancerous growths, appear in almost half the population, according to the Mayo Clinic. Skin tags are small in size, normally flesh-tone and appear on the neck, eyelids, underarms, under breasts or in the groin area. People tend to develop skin tags in middle age. Although harmless, you may find skin tags unattractive and desire to remove them. There are home remedies available to remove skin tags from your body.

Fingernail Polish

A simple and painless method of removing skin tags at home is using fingernail polish. Coat the skin tag with fingernail polish up to three times a day. Repeat the process until the skin tag is eliminated, usually within three to four days.

Baking Soda and Castor Oil

Blend together baking soda and Castor oil in quantities sufficient to form a paste. Apply the paste to the skin tag three times a day. The time frame to remove skin tags using this concoction varies but expect a course of about one week.

Tag Tying

Using dental floss, a piece of fishing line or sturdy thread, tie off the base of the skin tag. The process of tying off the skin tag cuts off blood flow to the tissue. After two or three days, the skin tag "dies" and drops off your body.

Cutting

Cutting off the skin tag is a drastic and slightly painful method of removal. Use disinfected scissors or nail clippers to cut off the skin tag. You must make sure to wipe off the skin tag and surrounding area thoroughly with alcohol before starting the procedure. Swab the area generously with peroxide after you cut the skin tag away. Apply pressure to the area with a clean towel of gauze to stop bleeding after the procedure.
