Damaged skin near your eyes can result in wrinkles, discolorations or dark circles. These blemishes can make you look older than you are or tired when you're not. Give the thin skin around your eyes the extra care it needs to repair itself with a hydrating, skin-conditioning eye serum or cream. Some of the best eye skin care products contain effective moisturizers or antioxidants to correct a wide variety of skin health issues.
The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream
The Body Shop incorporates an efficacious amount of vitamin E in its eye cream, reports skin care expert Paula Begoun in her tests, which makes it "effective as an antioxidant." The antioxidant may help repair and fend off free radical damage, like sun damage, and comes suspended in a shea butter base, which helps moisturize your skin. The Body Shop also adds algae extract, another source of skin-nourishing minerals and vitamins.
Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum
The beauty editors of "InStyle" magazine say Olay's eye serum is the best if you have dark undereye circles or puffy eyes. Dr. Betty Davis, a dermatologist reviewing the eye serum for the magazine, said it's lightweight enough to wear either under your makeup or over it. The magazine liked its use of peptides to help brighten skin discolorations. Begoun agrees, saying it's "an excellent option for use around the eyes." Olay also adds mineral pigments, which instantly adds a light shimmer to your undereye area.
Clinique All About Eyes Rich
Clinique's rich eye cream comes recommended by Oprah's "O" magazine. Clinique combines effective moisturizers, like cholesterol, petrolatum and silicone, with antioxidants like green tea extract and vitamin E. The magazine suggests trying it if you need an emollient-based cream for extra hydration, which is especially useful if you have very dry skin near your eyes.
La Roche-Posay Redermic Eyes
Begoun tested La Roche-Posay's anti-wrinkle firming treatment and concluded that it was very good, giving it high marks for its high vitamin C content. Vitamin C is a popular antioxidant that may help lighten various signs of aging, like fine lines or skin discolorations, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Begoun notes that La Roche-Posay doesn't include fragrances, which is prime for sensitive skin.
