Fisherman's Wharf, Haight and Ashbury and Golden Gate Bridge are fine choices for your San Francisco vacation sightseeing---if you're a little predictable. For those looking to see the strangest of the strange, San Francisco is the city for bizarre attractions. Fortunately, in the spirit of San Francisco's hippie past, many of these attractions involve plenty of walking and nutritious food so that your healthy lifestyle doesn't have to go on vacation, too.

Strange Craft Show

The Bazaar Bizarre is a craft show not for the faint of heart. It showcases edgy handmade goods made by local artists and craftspeople. It also offers several workshops in case you want to get in on the crafty action yourself. Since this show features the works of 100 artists, you'll spend plenty of time on your feet, burning calories and browsing wares.

Historic Giant Camera

Following a walk on the beach, experience Camera Obscure or Giant Camera, a camera that is a national landmark that you can walk right into. The Camera Obscura was historically used by astronomers to explore the stars, but you can explore the views of the Seal Rock Area.

Scary San Francisco Tour

For a more spooky tour of San Francisco, check out the San Francisco Chinatown Ghost Walking Tour. This tour gets rave reviews from the local press, including the Examiner. You'll cover plenty of ground in Chinatown during this tour that keeps you on your feet for more than an hour and a half on a Friday or Saturday night. Participants will learn about Chinatown history and folklore from guides who have been featured on Conan O'Brien's former late night television show.

Celebrate the Weird

The How Weird Street Faire is the perfect symbol for all that is weird in San Francisco. It features 10 blocks of dancing, fashion, music costumes and vendors, each one attempting to out-weird the next. Each year has its own theme such as the Bollyweird theme featured in 2010. You'll have a hard time not dancing in this environment, so be prepared to get that heart rate up. Just remember to stay hydrated.

Raw Food

San Francisco is one of the major hubs of the raw food movement, and there are several restaurants that feature some of the top chefs in raw food cuisine. Raw food restaurants often attempt to recreate their cooked counterparts using raw alternatives. Some acclaimed eateries reflecting this trend include TeamRAW, Bar Crudo and Cafe Gratitude. A raw meal can be healthy, filling, delicious---and maybe just a bit weird.
