Wrinkles are a natural result of aging, as the epidermis begins to produce less oil. At the same time, the skin's underlying elastin and collagen, which keep the skin firm, also begin to diminish. Although a certain amount of wrinkling is normal and depends partially on genetics, smoking and exposure to sunlight speeds up the process. The delicate area around the eyes is especially susceptible to fine lines and wrinkles. Although chemical skin care products are readily available, it isn't difficult to make your own gentle, chemical-free eye care treatment .

Skin Serum

Step 1

Place 1 tbsp. grape seed oil in a small glass jar. Add 2 tsp. apricot kernel oil, 1 tsp. cranberry seed oil and 1 tsp. carrot seed oil.

Step 2

Wash your face with a cleanser suitable for your skin type. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel.

Step 3

Apply 1 drop of serum on your ring finger, and massage the oil into the skin above and below your eye. Massage gently and avoid pulling and stretching, as the skin around the eye is very delicate. Apply the oil every night before bed.

Coconut Eye Cream

Step 1

Place 3 tbsp. petroleum jelly in a small saucepan. Add 3 tbsp. coconut oil and 3 tbsp. cocoa butter.

Step 2

Place the saucepan on low heat. Warm the mixture, stirring constantly, until the oils and petroleum jelly are smooth and completely melted together. Pour the coconut eye cream into a sterile glass container.

Step 3

Wash your face, and then massage the cream into the skin around your eyes every night. Massage using your ring finger, as your it is your weakest finger and will have a gentle touch.

Step 4

Cover the container. Store the serum in a cool, dry location between uses.
