The U.S. National Library of Medicine says that everything from smoking and sun exposure to genetics and aging cause wrinkles. While the best way to fight wrinkles is prevention -- such as wearing sunscreen or avoiding cigarettes, you may be able to reduce the appearance of fine lines and creases with face muscle exercises.

Yoga

According to Desi Dieter, a South Asian health and lifestyle resource, many yoga poses can help reduce and prevent wrinkles. For example, try the "Singh Mukh Mudra" pose. Inhale deeply and pucker your whole face into a deep scowl. Exhale and release the pose, stretching your mouth into a wide yawn with your tongue sticking out as a lion might do. Repeat the pose several times daily.

Convenient Exercises

There are exercises that you can perform almost anywhere, making it nearly effortless to help reduce unsightly wrinkles. For instance, Simple Health Tips recommends an exercise that you can do while working, driving or watching television that helps eliminate laugh lines and other fine wrinkles. Close your lips in a straight line and puff your cheeks up with air, the way a child holds his breath. Continue breathing regularly through your nose. Try to keep your cheeks inflated for up to 10 minutes. Repeat daily.

Strengthen Muscles

Strengthening your facial muscles lifts sagging skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines. An article in "Saga Health Magazine" states that, as with any type of exercise, you must exercise facial muscles consistently over time to view results. Saga suggests placing your fingers on your cheekbones to hold skin taut and tilting your chin to your chest while opening and closing your mouth to strengthen muscles and tighten skin around your cheeks and eyes.
