Wrinkles form as your skin loses elasticity, causing all those fine lines and furrows to become more prominent. While this is a natural part of getting older, you may find your wrinkles distressing and want to minimize them. Bio Oil is an over-the-counter product that boasts many anti-aging and skin renewal benefits. Though no product will make your wrinkles vanish, moisturizing daily with one like Bio Oil can make them less noticeable.

Bio Oil contains a blend of vitamins and oils, such as vitamins A and E, calendula oil, lavender oil, rosemary oil and chamomile oil. It has been formulated without preservatives, as it does contain water in which bacteria or fungi may thrive.

This product promises to make your skin smoother and more even in tone, which will in turn make your wrinkles appear less noticeable. The vitamin A, from which the anti-aging topical retinol is derived, promises to make your face softer and suppler. Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and this functions to block the environmental damage that can degrade aging skin and make wrinkles look worse. The various essential oils work to condition your skin and improve its overall appearance and health.

Wash your skin twice a day with a moisturizing cleanser and tepid water. Rinse off the product and dry your face thoroughly, and then smooth on the Bio Oil all over your face and neck. The company states that Bio Oil should be applied before a moisturizer to ensure that its ingredients are able to penetrate your skin. You may find that Bio Oil is sufficient for keeping your skin hydrated and that you do not need an additional moisturizer. However, as Bio Oil does not contain sunscreen, apply a broad-spectrum one once the oil has been absorbed into your skin.

When your skin is dried out, it is less able to block the environmental factors and pollutants that can harm it. Applying Bio Oil can keep your skin’s barriers hydrated, and thereby plump up your skin cells. Wrinkles appear less obvious on moisturized skin, according to the Mayo Clinic. Even if you do not yet have wrinkles, keeping your skin nourished with Bio Oil can help prevent premature fine lines from forming.

While the ingredients found in Bio Oil do not typically aggravate skin, according to the manufacturer, stop using it if you notice any adverse reactions like a rash or burning sensation. Talk to your doctor before you begin applying Bio Oil or any other cosmetic product.
