Cellulite on your thighs, also known as cottage cheese thighs, is identified by the bumps and dimples that seem to appear on your skin almost overnight. When you have excess fat on your thighs, it hardens as you age and gives your thighs that not so smooth look. Getting rid of cellulite is challenging and takes dedication and hard work, however the end result is very rewarding. You will be able to wear skinny jeans and minis again, without having to worry about dimpling and embarrassment.
Step 1
Lose weight. If you are overweight, then weight loss will help to smooth out your skin and eliminate fat deposits. Eating low calorie foods and balancing your daily intake of vitamins and minerals will help you to shed those unwanted pounds and bring you closer to smoother thighs and buttocks.
Step 2
Get rid of excess water weight. Drink six to eight glasses of water daily to flush out your system. Excess water is usually a result of dehydration, and keeping yourself hydrated will get rid of the excess that your body is storing. Limit salt intake as well, to get rid of water weight. Salt dries up water and the more you eat, the more water your body will store to keep alive.
Step 3
Exercise. Leg toning exercises such as leg lifts, walking and running will help your skin regain its elasticity and eliminate fat deposits. Add tension bands to your leg lifts to get the most out of your workout. Walking or running with one pound ankle weights will optimize results as well, and even wearing the weights through the day can be beneficial.
Step 4
Get rid of toxins. Detoxification processes are easier than the name suggests. Increase fluid intake, and eating only foods such as green leafy vegetables and drinking detox teas can make all the difference. Find a detox program that you and your doctor can agree on, and then get those toxins out of your system. Herbal shops sell burdock root, which can be brewed into a tea and is wonderful for breaking down cellulite.
Step 5
Increase circulation. One of the factors attributed to the development of cellulite is poor circulation. Taking a cold shower, allowing the water to hit your thighs will increase blood flow to the area. Use a brush and lightly stroke the cellulite area of your thighs, causing blood to circulate better. Massage and hot tub use can also assist you in this endeavor.
