Losing weight in a short period of time is usually not recommended. Taking weight off quickly means that it will usually come back just as quickly. The best ways to lose weight are at a moderate pace. However, there may be some occasions where quick weight loss is needed, such as 10 lbs. in 10 days. Many of these cases may involve boxers, wrestlers or mixed martial artists who are looking to meet weight-class requirements.

Step 1

Do interval training. It will get your heart rate up and it will also increase your metabolism. Try interval training while running sprints on an indoor track with the heat turned up. This will be taxing and quite uncomfortable, but you will lose weight quickly. Run four sprints consecutively, starting at 90 yards and then doing 80 yards, 70 yards and 60 yards. Take a two-minute break and then repeat the set. You will need to drink water to replenish your fluids.

Step 2

Lift weights in the gym. Lifting free weights will bring the best results. In addition to making you stronger, you will have to work harder than you would with machines like Nautilus or Bowflex. When you work with free weights, you have to balance the weights yourself and that will force you to work harder and burn more calories.

Step 3

Get back to additional cardiovascular workouts. You can run, swim, bike or even walk. The key is to get your heart rate up and increase your metabolism by doing this for at least 25 minutes at a time. One of the best cardiovascular exercises is swimming. In addition to getting your heart rate up, you will work most of the muscle groups in your body.

Step 4

Eat only healthy foods. Make sure you eat two to three portions of fresh vegetables and two portions of fresh fruit every day. Eat white-meat chicken or fish as your main sources of protein. Avoid fried foods, fast foods or junk foods. Eat several small meals every day instead of the standard three.

Step 5

Carry around a spit cup, chew gum and spit. This rather disgusting-sounding habit is used by wrestlers and boxers in the late stages of trying to make weight. You can lose weight by spitting into a cup as you chew gum.

Step 6

Drink water every day. Drink 64 oz. of water through the first seven days of your 10-day weight loss project. Drinking water will help you eliminate toxins and is good for keeping your muscles functioning at top efficiency. Cut your water intake down to 48 oz. during the last three days.
