1. It Grows Back

Explore the numerous options for hair removal before you cut your pubic hair. Certain methods are better suited than others when it comes to removing hair from your genital region. Reasons for removing pubic hair vary from surgery, a new bathing suit to more personal choices. Generally no harm occurs from removing pubic hair, though you may experience itching or irritation when it begins to grow back. Texture of regrown pubic hair may change once it is completely removed.

2. Get Out the Shaving Cream

Trim your pubic hair with a beard trimmer or scissors before you begin to shave it. Use a clean, sharp razor and shaving cream to shave this area. Test shaving cream on your pubic area to check for any allergic reactions. Shave in the direction of hair growth for less irritation and to reduce your chances of developing ingrown hairs. Ingrown hairs, razor burn, cuts and red bumps are all side effects of shaving. Expect hair to begin to grow back in one to three days.

3. Use Chemicals to Remove Hair

Buy a depilatory designed for pubic hair removal from your local drug store. Apply depilatories only to external genital areas and test the product before using it to remove all of your pubic hair. Depilatories are known to cause rashes and irritation in some women. Consult your doctor if the rash or irritation is severe and ask for advice treating rashes in your genital region.

4. Rip It Off

Visit a salon for a Brazilian bikini wax that removes almost all your pubic hair including hair between your buttocks. Choose a well-trained professional for this procedure. Try a home waxing kit for a less expensive method to remove pubic hair. Beware of using hot wax in your genital region. Cold wax kits are available but may not remove all of your pubic hair. Pluck remaining hairs using tweezers. Follow all instructions on the waxing kit you purchase and be prepared for a painful removal process. Pubic hair removed by waxing takes longer to grow back than shaving or depilatories.

5. Make a Long Term Hair Decision

Explore laser hair removal treatments or electrolysis for permanent hair removal. Electrolysis involves inserting a needle into the hair follicle to kill the hair root. This method of hair removal is permanent, though some individuals experience regrowth of their pubic hair. Laser treatments use a beam of light to permanently remove hair but most individuals need semi-yearly follow up treatments. Both procedures need to be performed by a professional trained in hair removal. Both treatments are expensive and require multiple visits to remove pubic hair. Expect pain and some recovery time if you choose permanent hair removal procedures.
