Do-it-yourself anti-aging skin care is becoming popular as people are turning to environmentally-friendly ways to improve their appearance. Natural skin care is effective and much less expensive than treatments performed by dermatologists or products that you buy at the cosmetics counter. Healthy ingredients for the skin are common staples in most kitchens. Fruits, oils and dairy products have an abundance of nutrients, vitamins, minerals and acids that help preserve youthful skin.

Step 1

Remove eye makeup with a light vegetable oil, such as olive oil or canola oil. Use a clean cotton wool ball to apply and remove the oil. This gently removes makeup and keeps the delicate eye area lubricated to prevent stretching. Light vegetable oils also contain vitamin E, an antioxidant that may delay signs of aging, such as crow's feet.

Step 2

Use plain, whole yogurt as an anti-aging cleanser. Keep yogurt in the refrigerator and take a small scoop to massage into your face before rinsing with lukewarm water. Yogurt contains lactic acid, a natural alpha hydroxy acid that gives aging skin adequate exfoliation while penetrating pores for a deep clean. Yogurt also has a mild bleaching effect on the skin, making it an ideal treatment for skin discoloration.

Step 3

Do a sugar scrub three to four times a week as a natural anti-aging treatment. Sugar contains glycolic acid, a common ingredient found in many anti-aging facial peels performed by dermatologists. The sugar granules also remove dead skin cells and other impurities from the face and increase circulation for fresh, youthful skin.

Step 4

Make a natural anti-aging facial mask once a week to maintain healthy skin. Mash enough avocado to smooth over the face, let it dry for 30 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. Avocados contain an abundance of natural oils and protein that keep skin hydrated and supple. They also contain B vitamins to even out skin tone.

Step 5

Rub a lemon directly on age spots two to three times a day to fade them naturally. Danielle Briones, author of the article "Home Remedies for Age and Sun Spots" states that citric acid found in lemons is one of the strongest natural skin lighteners available.

Step 6

Combine olive oil with three to four drops of vitamin E oil and smooth over your face and neck before bed. This provides an intensive anti-aging moisture treatment that prevents and treats fine lines, wrinkles and skin discoloration.

Tips and Warnings

  • Always wash hands before applying any skin care product. Use clean cotton balls when removing eye makeup. Wear SPF 30 on the face and neck when going outdoors.
