Hi, I'm Teresa Howes and welcome to my fresh kitchen. Today, I wanted to show you how to poach an apple. Poaching is a wonderfully healthy and low fat cooking technique and it's great for delicate foods that wouldn't typically stand up to other traditional cooking processes that would either dry out or fall apart. Apples are also wonderful items for desserts because they are high in foliate, vitamin C, fiber, and other important phytochemicals, but they're also really delicious. So to poach an apple all we're gonna do is take 2 cups of low sugar apple juice and we're gonna bring it to a boil. While your juice is heating cut your apples in half, into quarters, and then remove the seeds. When your apple juice has come to a boil add the apples and let them simmer for 15 minutes but make sure you turn them around half way through so that they cook all the way through. Remove them from the pot with a slotted spoon and add them to a large bowl. Sprinkle them with cinnamon and then you can serve them on a plate, drizzle them with some honey, top them with toasted almonds, and serve with a side of vanilla yogurt for a wonderfully delicious, nutritious, healthy and beautiful snack.
