Hi, I'm Cary Williams, and we're talking today about how to find out what boxing stance suits you. Benefits of having the proper stance balance right? Balance is first and foremost important also the footwork in boxing is probably the most important thing in boxing because it pushes all of your shots out and gives you all of your movement. So how do you determine what the proper stance is for yourself? Well are you left handed or are you right handed? Whatever you are really dominant with, that is the placement of your foot that goes behind you so if I'm right hand dominant, I'm going to place my right foot behind me and my left foot in front of me and that's going to be called an orthodox stance. Now if I'm a south paw, left handed, I'm going to switch that around so my left foot will be behind me and my right foot will be in front of me and that's generally how you can tell. A common misnomer of what happens is that people who are right handed they feel like their right hand needs to be in front of them. So automatically they stand in the wrong position, they stand in the wrong stance. So just remember, whatever is dominant swing that part of your body behind you, put that foot behind you and you'll be in the right stance for boxing.
