ANGIE SCHNEIDER: Hi. I am Angie with Youth Hockey Foundation of Austin. We are about to demonstrate a proper hockey stop. When you are skating in a two-foot glide and you are getting ready to stop, you are going to make sure your knees are bent at a 90-degree angle, your shoulders and your arms are going to be square and still, you are going to come up to where your stopping point is, push on the inside edge of your skates and quickly turn your hips while pushing out on those inside edges. Your body will follow and your arms and shoulders will turn to face where you are ending your stop. Let us watch Jim demonstrate. He is skating up with a two-foot glide, getting ready to stop, and he has got the inside edges of his skates digging in against the ice, allowing him to come to a full and complete stop.
