Prescription Medications for Cold Sores

Cold sores, also known as fever blisters, are lesions that occur as a result of an infection with the herpes simplex type 1 virus. MayoClinic.com says that specific cold sore symptoms include small blisters around the mouth that can last for as long as 10 to 14 days. There are prescription medications for cold sores that can decrease the appearance of these unsightly blisters.
