A diet chart is a fun, effective way to log your dietary habits. You don't need to spend money for membership-required websites or formal software to track your daily health regimen. The ability to see what foods you've eaten and how many calories you've consumed, as well as how much time you've spent exercising, is a simple way to meet your health and weight loss goals.

Step 1

Open a blank spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel and title it as your diet chart. Save it to your desktop so you can easily find it. If you do not have a computer, graph paper and pencil will work fine.

Step 2

Create eight columns across the top of your spreadsheet or graph paper. The first column will be your "Goals" section and the other seven are for every day of the week. Begin with whichever day works best for you; many prefer to start with Monday and go through Sunday.

Step 3

Use the left side of your spreadsheet or paper to log the health habits you wish to track. For example, weight, body fat percentage, calories consumed, exercises performed, time spent exercising and your moods should be typed or written out.

Step 4

Enter your starting goals for each habit you list at the beginning of the week. This way you can compare your goals to what you achieve daily.

Things You'll Need

  • Microsoft Excel
  • Graph paper
  • Pencil
