Duromine is one of a variety of weight loss drugs currently on the market, many of which are available only with a prescription. Many of these medications work by using compounds that are related to amphetamines and suppress appetite. This appetite suppression, combined with a careful diet and exercise plan, can help people lose weight.

Duromine is a medication that contains phentermine, which is commonly used as an appetite supressant and weight-loss aid. According to drugs.com, duromine is not available in the United States but can be found in other countries, including Australia, New Zealand and parts of Central America.

The primary ingredient in Duromine is phentermine, which is a chemical used in many weight-loss medications. Phentermine works as an appetite suppressant, in part by its ability to act as a stimulant, as it is chemically related to amphetamines. The phentermine in Duromine is combined with a resin that is designed to slow the release of phentermine.

Duromine is designed to be used by people who are clinically classified as either obese or heavily overweight. This means that it is recommended for people with a BMI over 27. Duromine is also generally only recommended for patients with a weight-related disorder, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes. It is only available with a prescription.

Instructions and Dosing

Duromine should be taken early in the day, either before breakfast or right afterward, because taking it later in the day can result in insomnia. Duromine comes in doses of 15, 30 and 40 mg tablets. The dose will depend on the recommendations of your physician and should be taken with large volumes of water.

Side Effects

Duromine can cause a number of side effects. The most common ones are increased energy, restlessness and insomnia. Other side effects include diarrhea or constipation, feelings of fatigue (especially several hours after taking Duromine), and increased blood pressure. Duromine can also lower your sex drive and cause impotence in men. Duromine can also be habit forming, so it should not be used for more than three to four weeks at a time.
