GNC is a well-known supplement store that offers a variety of products for general health as well as athletic pursuits. In order to cater to those affected by the American obesity epidemic, GNC carries a number of weight management products. These supplements include meal replacement powders and drinks, weight loss bars and thermogenic, or fat burning supplements. Although reaching a healthy weight is beneficial, the ingredients in some of GNC's weight loss products may cause unpleasant effects. Carefully research ingredients and consult a doctor before using any supplements.

GNC Total Lean Shake

GNC's Total Lean product line offers a number of weight management supplements, including Lean Shake. Lean Shake is intended as a meal replacement, and is a powdered supplement that is intended to be mixed with water. One serving of Lean Shake contains 180 calories, which is far fewer than the average meal. Although many diet meal replacements are high in protein, Lean Shake contains just 9g of protein per serving, along with 30 g of carbohydrates and 2 g of fat. Lean Shake is high in fiber, with 8 g per serving. Fiber may assist in weight loss as it can help you feel fuller.

GNC Total Lean Burn 60

GNC Total Lean Burn 60 is a thermogenic supplement, which means it is intended to increase your metabolic rate. This can encourage your body to burn more calories, which supports weight loss. The main ingredient in GNC Total Lean Burn 60 is guarana seed extract, which contains caffeine. Caffeine may improve your energy levels and metabolic rate. Increased energy may help you work out harder and burn more calories. According to a GNC-sponsored clinical study, Burn 60 may increase post-exercise calorie burning by up to 60 percent. However, your results may vary. Other ingredients in Burn 60 include black tea extract, ginger root and grape seed extract.

GNC Control ACS Appetite Control Support

GNC Control ACS Appetite Control Support is a supplement intended to control cravings for food when on a reduced-calorie diet. Appetite Control Support contains many of the same ingredients as Burn 60, such as black tea extract, ginger root and grape seed extract. In addition, Appetite Control Support contains yerba mate extract and green tea leaves, which are sources of caffeine. GNC suggests this product may reduce appetite, increase metabolism and energy levels.

GNC Total Lean Bar

GNC's Total Lean Bar is similar to the Lean Shake in that it is intended to be a meal replacement. Lean Bar is low in calories, with 160 per bar. Again, this is not a high-protein meal replacement, with 9g per bar. Lean Bars contain 4g of fat, 22g of carbohydrates, 5g of sugar, 5g of sugar alcohols and 6g of fiber. Because of the low calorie count, Lean Bars may support weight loss efforts, but may also be too low in calories to leave you feeling full.
