While Hydroxycut is still in the market and has not been banned as of 2010, the FDA issued a warning about the pills in 2009. Reports to the FDA are mostly complaints about liver disease, liver disease and jaundice, as well as the death of a teenager in 2007. Hydroxycut should not be taken by people with liver problems or those with other health issues. Always consult with your doctor when in doubt.
Step 1
Take one tablet three times a day. According to eMedTV, this is lower than the recommended dosage of two tablets three times a day. This is a way to get you started and to see if you experience any side effects or problems. If you feel fine after three days, increase to the recommended dosage.
Step 2
Take pills at least 30 minutes before a meal. Don't take them on a full stomach and don't take them for five hours before bedtime, as they can cause insomnia. Move the pills to an earlier time if you're still having trouble falling asleep.
Step 3
Drink an 8 oz. glass of water with your pills. Don't take them with coffee or other stimulant drinks.
Step 4
Buy the Hydroxycut nighttime pill if you're having trouble with anxiety or sleeping. According to eMedTV, Hydroxycut produces the regular pills or a day/night option, so you can switch to the nighttime option for the last dosage of the day, during the evening.
Step 5
Stop taking the pills if you experience side effects such as tremors, heartburn, restlessness, increased urination and severe insomnia that lasts even though you change your pill schedule.
