The television infomercial-pitched Wen Hair Care System has garnered rave reviews from users, but it has to be ordered through infomercial giant Guthy-Renker and can be expensive. If you want the results of Wen without the large investment and shipping time, you can find alternatives to Wen products at your drug store or beauty supply store that give you similar results.

Wen Cleansing Conditioner

What makes the Wen Cleansing Conditioner desirable is that it lacks sodium lauryl sulfates, which are harsh detergents that can strip your hair of moisture. Luckily, drug store staple L'Oreal created the Ever Pure line, which doesn't have any detergents and uses natural ingredients to get the cleansing action that you want. For under $8 you can swap out you expensive Wen cleanser for something as effective; according to the L'Oreal website, it leaves your hair smooth and frizz-free.

Wen Styling Creme

According to the Wen website, the Wen Styling Creme is an alternative to sticky gels or drying hairsprays. The creme is meant to be used after the shampoo to seal in shine and add body. You can get the same results from Dabur Vatika Naturals Hair Fall Control Styling Hair Cream, which uses the same sweet almond oil in the Wen product to add shine and seal in moisture. Found at beauty supply stores, it can help create the style that you want without damaging chemicals.

Wen Re-Moist Intensive Hair Repair Mask

The Wen Re-Moist Intensive Hair Repair Mask uses chamomile and rosemary to soothe parched strands as part of a weekly hair care regimen. Luckily, you can find the same ingredients in Dead Sea's Mineral Olive Oil Hair Mask. Dead Sea is a brand with a cult-like following, as it's effective without being harsh on the hair. If you're addicted to the results your Wen hair mask gives you, try the Dead Sea version to see if you can garner similar results with a lower cost and more convenience.

Wen Texture Balm

Wen Texture Balm is used as the last step in the system to give your hair texture, separation and hold all day long. It's a wax-based balm that you rub on your hands before you apply to your hair with your fingers. Fekkai Texturizing Balm can be purchased exclusively at Bath and Body Works locations, and while it has a lighter texture, it gives you the same shiny, cherry bark textured strands as Wen Texture Balm. While it can be pricey, it's still under $20 as of 2010, and may work when you only need to replace the Wen Texture Balm in your hairstyle arsenal.
