There are three retail-quality grades of meat usually seen in the grocery store or butcher shop -- prime, choice and select. The higher the grade of ribeye steak, the greater the eating satisfaction. Grilling your ribeye on the Weber Q grill is similar to cooking on most grills. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions on setting up your grill and on starting and preheating it before grilling. Check the manual to ensure that you are using the correct heat settings to properly cook your ribeye steak.

Step 1

Preheat the Weber Q grill according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Step 2

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and place it on a plate. Season the steak lightly with salt and pepper. Ribeyes are well-marbled steaks and usually require little extra seasoning or marinating. The marbling, or thin streaks of fat throughout the steak, keep it moist and flavorful.

Step 3

Turn the temperature on the Weber Q grill to medium. Place the ribeye on the grill, turning occasionally, allowing it to cook as follows for medium rare to medium: for a ribeye that is ¾-inch thick, grill for seven to nine minutes; for a 1-inch ribeye, grill for nine to 14 minutes.

Step 4

Check the steak for doneness using a meat thermometer inserted horizontally into the thickest part of the steak. For a medium-rare ribeye, the temperature is 145 degrees Fahrenheit; for a medium ribeye, the temperature reads 160 F.

Step 5

Remove the ribeye from the Weber Q grill onto a clean plate, and allow it to sit for five minutes before serving to allow the juices to reabsorb.
