Side Effects of Anadrol-50

Anadrol-50, also known as oxymetholone, is an oral anabolic-androgenic steroid. Anabolic steroids are synthetic forms of the male hormone testosterone, which have serious side effects, like liver failure and hormonal disruptions. However, doctors use Anadrol-50 to treat anemia. According to the Mayo Clinic, anemia is a condition where there aren't enough healthy red blood cells to carry sufficient amounts of oxygen to the rest of the body.

Liver Side Effects

According to Drugs.com, Anadrol-50 may cause the following serious side effects to your liver: tumors, blood filled cysts, liver failure, jaundice and severe internal bleeding. Medical attention is highly recommended if you experience any of these side effects.

Blood Side Effects

Anadrol-50 is used to treat anemia because it enhances the production of red blood cells. Unfortunately, Anadrol-50 also causes serious side effects in your blood like coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, and increasing the bad cholesterol (LDL) while lowering the good cholesterol (HDL).

Male Side Effects

According to RxList.com, Anadrol-50 causes the following side effects in pre-pubescent males penis enlargement and frequent erections. For adult males, Anadrol-50 causes hair loss, trouble urinating, decrease in testicle size, impotence, breast tenderness or swelling, and erections lasting more than four hours, according to RxList.com.

Female Side Effects

According to RxList.com, women experience the following side effects from Anadrol-50: deepening of the voice, hoarseness, growth in facial hair, new or increased acne, clitoral enlargement and irregular menstrual cycles.

Allerigic Reactions

In rare cases, individuals have experienced allergic reactions to Anadrol-50. Symptoms of these allergic reactions are rashes, hives, difficulties in breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue and loss of consciousness.

Common Side Effects

Anadrol-50 also has several common side effects, including nausea, dizziness, weakness, lightheadedness, fainting, vomiting, stomach pains, diarrhea, increased or decreased sex drive, swelling of ankles and feet, mood changes, rapid weight loss or gain and anxiety.
