The Palisades Center, in West Nyack, New York, is the 10th largest shopping center in the United States, covering 2.2 million square feet on four stories that include retail stores, and dining and entertainment establishments. Besides shopping, children can enjoy many activities at the mall, which is 20 miles north of New York City.
Palisades Climb Adventure
Palisades Climb Adventure Ropes Course, at 85 feet tall, is the world’s tallest indoor ropes course, according to the company's website. Situated on the fourth floor of the Palisades Center, it has 75 challenge elements, including types of bridges and ladders, each with challenges of strength, balance and agility. Children must be at least 42 inches to climb accompanied with an adult and 48 inches to climb alone. Climb Adventure is open 365 days a year.
Palisades Center Ice Rink
On the fourth floor of the mall, the ice rink offers public skating hours throughout the week, and scheduled private lessons, figure skating clinics, hockey games and birthday parties. Public skating is open to anyone regardless of ability. A summer camp is also available.
Tickets can be purchased for the Ferris wheel and carousel on the third floor food court.
The fourth floor of the mall has sit-down restaurants, many of which cater to kids and families. Options include Red Robin, IHop and The Cheese Cake Factory. The third floor contains the mall's food court, which has several fast food restaurants, ice cream shops and Johnny Rockets.
The mall offers special activities for kids on select Mondays throughout the year. These include holiday-themed and back to school activities, and Lego workshops and back-to-school events. These events all are free.
Kids who enjoy shopping will find play of stores to capture their interest. In addition to kids' clothing, shoe and accessory shops, the mall also features a Disney Store, Lego, and Build a Bear Workshop.
