A facial mask is commonly used to open the skin's pores to remove clogged dirt. Applying a facial mask can also help remove dead skin cells, moisturize your skin, and reduce blackheads and whiteheads. Pore-cleansing facial masks, especially those found in health food stores, can be expensive. But by using a few natural ingredients from your kitchen, you can make your own facial mask to clean your pores.

Step 1

Peel four bananas and two apples and place them in a blender. Add 1 tbsp. of fresh lime or lemon juice and 7 tbsp. of honey. Puree the mixture until it turns into a paste. Add more apples and bananas if you want a thicker mask. Pour the mixture into a clean bowl, cover and set aside.

Step 2

Wash your face with warm water to open your skin pores. Cleanse your face with a mild cleansing soap. Avoid harsh soaps such as antibacterial soaps, which can overdry your skin.

Step 3

Scoop a generous amount of the facial mask mixture with your fingers and apply it to your face. Gently massage your skin until the mixture hardens. Let the mask stay on your face for about 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

Step 4

Wash your face with cold water to close your facial pores. Then pat your face dry with facial tissue or a clean towel. Avoid scrubbing your face, as this will cause redness and skin irritation. Apply the homemade facial mask two to three times a week to clean your pores but not every day, as this can overdry your skin.
