Sperm production in men can be a determining factor in how easy or difficult it is to fertilize a woman's egg. Ideal sperm production should yield high-volume and high-quality sperm to increase the odds of fertilization. This can be harder for some men than others and can depend on numerous factors, including diet. There are several different supplements that men can take to improve their body's sperm production.

Maca Root

Maca root is an herb native to the Andes mountains. It is used to increase the quantity of sperm produced in the body. Maca root has been used by native cultures for centuries as an aphrodisiac. The downside to maca root is that it has to be taken for up to four months before it can have a significant impact on men's sperm production. It is recommended to take anywhere between 1500 to 3000 mg daily for four months to enjoy their benefit.

Multivitamin

Multivitamins contain several nutrients that can influence males' sperm production. Zinc, folic acid and selenium are all nutrients key to sperm production that are commonly found in normal multivitamins. Zinc is also the primary nutrient found in raw oysters that makes them one of the top natural foods for improving the function of the testes and production of high-quality sperm. Taking a multivitamin daily can treat any deficiencies and promote healthy testicular function.

Pumpkin and Sunflower Seeds

Men should eat raw sunflower and pumpkin seeds to improve and increase sperm production. According to Baby Hopes, both have been proven as natural supplements for male fertility. To benefit from these seeds, men should take 1/4 cup daily of either seed, or a combination of both.
