Although eating fat is an unpopular concept, it is highly effective for appetite suppression. Fat, in monounsaturated form, tricks the body into thinking it is satiated. Great snack choices for suppressing appetite include avocados, olives and olive oil, sesame seeds, sunflower kernels, almonds and macadamia nuts. Eating small amounts of mayonnaise, cream cheese and heavy cream are effective appetite suppressing foods.

2. Protein Power

Protein actually slows the rate of absorption of carbohydrates. Eating carbohydrates alone will quickly move the excess energy to storage in your fat cells. Good protein foods that suppress appetite include fish and seafood, lean meat, pork, chicken and eggs. To keep the meal from being fattening, avoid gravies and high carbohydrate foods like French fries, potato chips and white flour pastas.
