JACKIE SILVER: I'm Jackie Silver with how to make a face mask. The average person will shed 40 pounds of skin in a lifetime. Old cells slough off and are replaced by new cells. One way to help remove these dead cells and nourish the face at the same time is by using a facial mask. There are many types of masks available for all skin types from oily to dry to combination skin. I'm going to show you how to make a yogurt-honey facial mask. The honey soothes on contact and has well established antioxidant and antimicrobial effects which help explain its contributions to wound healing. The yogurt smooths and moisturizes the skin and refines the pores. It's always a good idea to check with your doctor before trying any home remedies. For the yogurt-honey mask, I'm going to mix half a cup of plain yogurt with a quarter cup of honey. If the honey isn't soft enough, you can microwave it for about 30 seconds, and then I'm going to mix these together in a little bowl and also I'm going to cut up a little vitamin E capsule and squeeze that nourishing vitamin E right into my mask. After you mixed it up, apply two or three tablespoons to your entire face avoiding the eyes and leave the mask on for 5 to 10 minutes. Wash thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat dry. Try it once a week for brighter, smoother, hydrated skin. Remember to use plain yogurt instead of flavored and make sure to pat dry rather than rubbing your face after rinsing. You can see how easy it is to make your own natural facial mask at home with ingredients you may already have on hand.
