Pain in the stomach after eating eggs is most likely the result of an egg allergy. If the pain in the stomach is from an egg allergy, other symptoms will accompany the pain, such as skin rashes, nasal congestion or asthma. An egg allergy is the second most common food allergy, according to the Food Allergy Initiative. If you have been diagnosed with an egg allergy, you should abstain from all products containing eggs. Even though you may be allergic to the proteins in the yolk or white of the egg, it is impossible to completely split the two, leading to an allergic reaction. See an allergist for a proper diagnosis.

Video of the Day

If you have an egg allergy, your immune system responds to the proteins in the egg as if they are dangerous, according to KidsHealth from Nemours. The body will try to fight off the egg proteins in the same way it fights off viruses, by creating specific IgE antibodies. These antibodies cause the production of histamine in the cells, which leads to allergy symptoms. If you have an egg allergy, you will develop symptoms within a few minutes to a few hours after ingesting the substance you're allergic to.

Stomach pain from an egg allergy is a common symptom. Stomach pain is typically accompanied with other gastrointestinal issues, such as gas, bloating, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea, according to KidsHealth. An allergic reaction in the intestines can also lead to tingling in the mouth or throat. Seek medical attention if the pain in the stomach is severe or vomiting is uncontrollable.

Other Symptoms

Other symptoms from an egg allergy are hives, allergic asthma and allergic rhinitis. Hives is considered the most common sign of an egg allergy, according to the Mayo Clinic. Hives are welts that cluster on the skin from inflammation. They are extremely itchy and can lead to secondary infections if the skin is cracked. Asthma symptoms, such as wheezing, shortness of breath and coughing, are common with an egg allergy. Allergic rhinitis is nasal congestion caused by an allergic reaction.

Consideration

The Food Allergy Initiative states that the MMR vaccine has been determined safe by the American Academy of Pediatrics for people with an egg allergy, but recommends talking about it with your doctor before receiving it.
