Smoked salmon sushi consists of sushi rice, a small piece of salmon -- around 1/4 oz. -- and sometimes a little seaweed. The calorie total changes according to the portion size. However, most single pieces of sushi are approximately the same size.

Smoked Salmon

Smoked salmon is cured and then smoked in either a hot or cold smoker. A 1/2-oz. piece of smoked salmon contains around 23 calories, according to MyFood-a-pedia.

Sushi Rice

Sushi rice contains approximately 298 calories in every 8 oz., according to the Calorie King website. Each piece of salmon sushi contains around 0.7 oz of sushi rice, so sushi rice makes up around 26 calories of the whole piece of salmon sushi.

Overall Calories

A 1/4-oz. piece of smoked salmon and sushi rice equals around 37 calories, depending on the size of the sushi portion. Extras such as wasabi, soy sauce, pickles or chili sauce will increase the total calorie count by at least 5 calories or more. A layer of seaweed will also add a few calories.
