Original Velveeta Shells & Cheese is a product from Kraft Foods. It is similar to macaroni and cheese, but it includes small shell pasta instead of macaroni and creamy Velveeta cheese sauce instead of a powdered cheese mix. Velveeta Shells & Cheese comes in the traditional large package that you cook on the stove top, or in a single-serve microwave version, though you can prepare either in the microwave. You should eat Velveeta Shells & Cheese only occasionally, however, because a 1-cup serving contains 12 g of fat, 49 g of carbohydrates and 940 mg of sodium.

Step 2
Cover the pasta with 12 cups of water.
Step 3
Place the pasta, uncovered, into the microwave oven and cook it on 100 percent power for five minutes. Then take the bowl out of the microwave and check the pasta. If it is soft and tender, it is ready.
Step 4
Drain the pasta in a large colander in the sink.
Step 5
Return the drained pasta to the bowl and stir in the Velveeta cheese mix.
Step 6
Serve the Velveeta Shells & Cheese hot.
Single-Serve Microwave Version
Step 1
Unwrap two single-serve cups of Velveeta Shells & Cheese. Peel the lids halfway back on each cup of Velveeta Shells & Cheese. Do not detach the lids because you must recover the cups to cook the pasta.
Step 2
Fill each cup of Velveeta Shells & Cheese with water to the fill line inside the cup. Fold the lids back over the cups.
Step 3
Place a cup of Velveeta Shells & Cheese in the microwave oven and heat it for three minutes on 100 percent power.
Step 4
Take the cup of Velveeta Shells & Cheese out of the microwave and stir in the cheese sauce. Do not drain the pasta.
Step 5
Repeat the heating process with the other cup of Velveeta Shells & Cheese. Serve hot.
