Top Five Exercises to Tone Your Legs

Program Description
While many exercises offer some benefit to the musculature of your legs, there are five here that when executed correctly will give you maximum benefit. However, with all of the joints in the legs, you must be careful to execute each move carefully to avoid injury to the hips, knees or ankles. Once the moves are mastered, weights can be added to increase the intensity of the exercise. Tips are listed with each exercise to help you execute each move with maximum efficiency and safety.

Actions

1. Squats--Keep your knees behind your toes and squat only as low as you comfortably can.

2. Lunges--Step one foot forward at a time, keeping the front knee at a 90 degree angle and back leg straight as you lift and lower your body.

3. Calf Raises--Lifting the body straight up, rise onto your toes and lower down.

4. Hamstring Curls--Standing, squeeze the heel up toward the buttocks, switching sides.

5. Side-lying Leg Lifts--Lying on one side, lift the top leg to hip width, squeeze and lower your leg.
