Bubble baths are fun for kids, but they're also relaxing and luxurious for adults. If you're interested in a spur-of-the moment bubble bath or want to give custom-scented bubble baths as gifts, you can create your own in a few minutes. With the addition of skin-friendly essential oils and glycerin, you can also create a bubble bath that will nourish your skin.

Step 1

Add 4 cups water to a large mixing bowl. Use purified water or filtered water if you're concerned about impurities in your tap water.

Step 2

Pour in 1 cup of liquid castile soap slowly. You can also use any unscented liquid soap or shampoo that you have on hand.

Step 3

Use a dropper to add fragrance oils. Use five to 10 drops of any fragrance you like. If you don't want to use pure essential oils, you can use any fragrance oils that are skin-safe. Add oils until your bubble bath smells strong enough.

Step 4

Add the vitamin E and glycerin if using. Glycerin and vitamin E oil will nourish your skin and add moisturizers to your bubble bath. This is especially helpful if you're suffering from dry, itchy skin.

Step 5

Stir slowly with a large spoon. It's important to stir slowly to avoid creating bubbles. Stir until the soap, glycerin and oils are completely incorporated into the water.

Step 6

Use the funnel to add your bubble bath to the empty bottle. In the bath, pour the bubble bath under the tap while your bathwater is running.

Tips and Warnings

  • This soap stores indefinitely, though the intensity of the fragrances will fade over time, especially if stored in a warm place. Add glitter or several drops of food coloring to your mixture to create colorful, sparkly blends appropriate for children. Experiment with different combinations of essential and fragrance oils to enhance your product's scent. Choose essential oils that also have skin-healing properties, such as tea tree oil. You can also choose relaxing oils, such as lavender.
  • Some essential oils are not safe for skin or for consumption. Use caution when adding them to soaps intended for children.
