Herbal supplements can help you to burn fat fast. It is, however, unlikely that any herb will cause weight loss if it is not taken in conjunction with proper diet and exercise. The benefit of natural fat burning herbal supplements is that they can help you to lose body fat faster than diet and exercise alone. Some herbs work through thermogenic pathways, increasing the body's internal temperature slightly to elevate metabolic rate. Others may impact the activity of the thyroid gland, suppress hunger or give you more energy to burn calories through resistance training and cardiovascular exercise. Add these herbs to your diet and exercise plan to lose weight fast.
Griffonia Simplicifolia
Griffonia simplicifolia is an herb that naturally contains high amounts of the amino acid 5-HTP, also known as 5-hydroxytryptophan. Five-HTP is a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin, which is said to play a role in regulating feelings of hunger and satiation. Griffonia simplicifolia can help you burn fat by promoting lower daily caloric intake. Fifty to 100mg can be taken three times per day 20 minutes before a meal to prevent overeating. Start with 50mg to establish tolerance because some individuals experience nausea with 5-HTP usage.
Fucoxanthin
Fucoxanthin is a natural carotenoid from brown seaweed that is related to the family of carotenoids, including beta carotene (vitamin A precursor). This substance has shown promise for boosting fat burning with no stimulant effects, such as those experienced with caffeine, synephrine or yohimbe.
Fucoxanthin can be taken in a 200mg dose three times a day with food. This natural thermogenic is a great option for those who cannot take caffeine because of risk factors for heart disease such as high blood pressure.
Coleus Forskohlii
Coleus forskohlii is an Ayurvedic herb that contains a potent natural fat-burning substance known as Forslean. According to "Natural Anabolics," Forslean has been shown to decrease body fat percentage in training individuals. Author Jerry Brainum recommends taking 250mg of coleus forskohlii, standardized to 10 percent of the active ingredient Forslean, once before working out and a second time with a meal later in the day. Coleus forskohlii does not contain any stimulants.
Green Tea
Green tea contains a powerful antioxidant known as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which has been shown to elevate metabolic rate for increased lipolysis, or fat burning. This polyphenol antioxidant occurs naturally in green tea but can be standardized for even better fat-burning results. In his book "Homemade Supplement Secrets," Jeff Anderson recommends taking 300mg of EGCG at least once per day in the morning. You can take an additional serving later in the day and benefit further from the antioxidant (anti-aging) activity of EGCG.
Guarana
Guarana is a natural herbal source of caffeine that can make green tea even more effective. For those who can tolerate stimulants, the combination of EGCG and caffeine increases the metabolic rate more than either supplement alone. It is recommended that you take a guarana product containing 100 to 200mg caffeine along with your green tea extract, once or twice per day. Those with risk factors for heart disease should not take stimulants such as caffeine.
Olive Leaf Extract
Olive Leaf Extract, standardized for oleuropein, may elevate thyroid output, which essentially turns up the thermostat on the body's metabolism. The thyroid gland produces potent fat burning substances, known as T3 and T4. Olive leaf extract may prompt the body to produce more of these fat burning thyroid hormones, thus increasing lipolysis, breaking down of fatty acid stores for energy usage.
