The Weight Watchers PointsPlus program combines eating healthy and exercising, and is based on the way your body individually processes food. Unlike other dietary programs, this one allows you to eat whatever foods you want, as long as you don’t go over your allowed daily points. For this program, you will need to purchase the Weight Watchers Calculator. The calculator allows you to input your personal information, such as your height and weight, and calculate and track your total intake of points. To activate your calculator, pull out the clear plastic tab by the battery slot.
Enter your personal information into the calculator by pressing the icon that is in the shape of a wrench. This key will be used quite often, as it is also pressed anytime you want to set up your weekly allowance of points. You will be asked to put in information such as age, gender, current height and weight and if you want to lose weight or maintain your current weight. After this information is entered, you will be provided with a daily point allowance.
Calculate the PointsPlus values by entering the foods you like to eat into the calculator, but you must have the nutrition information handy for all of the foods. Almost every food item comes with a nutrition label, so these should be fairly easy to find. To begin entering food information, press the PointsPlus key, then select “Enter.” There are four sections you need to fill out, including protein, carbs, total fat and fiber. Enter the amounts into each slot, as they are shown on the nutrition label and, upon completion, you will be given a point value for one serving of each specific food entered.
Begin tracking your daily point values. Each time you calculate a value for a food, the word “Use” will appear on your screen. Press enter to subtract this food from your total daily allowance. If you have consumed more than one serving, the calculator allows you to multiply it by the number of servings you had, and it will automatically subtract the extra points from your daily allowance. The same is true if you did not have a whole serving. Use the divide button to let the calculator know how much below the serving you consumed.
View your daily targets multiple times per day to ensure that you are staying on track. To do so, press the icon that is shaped like a pencil. The total points that you have left for the day will appear on the screen. To view your total weekly allowance, press the down arrow.
