Can You Lose Weight Eating Cottage Cheese Before Bed?
Cottage cheese is a great way to snack before bed.

Eating a variety of food is key to optimal health. When choosing dairy products such as cottage cheese, Mayo Clinic suggests choosing low-fat and non-fat options. The reason for sticking to lower fat options is because higher fat dairy products are full of saturated fat that can clog arteries and raise your risk of high cholesterol. Cottage cheese is a great snack before bed because it is full of protein, which can provide a feeling of satiety. The low-fat and fat free options are also great to help you control caloric intake and lose weight.

Video of the Day

Step 1

Eat a variety of foods daily. Control your intake of calories by choosing vegetables, fruits, lean meats, low fat dairy, and complex carbohydrates at each meal.

Step 2

Eat small meals every three to four hours throughout the day to fuel your metabolism and prevent spikes in blood sugar.

Step 3

Purchase low-fat and non-fat cottage cheese at your local supermarket. Avoid purchasing the options that come with fruit, because they are higher in sugar.

Step 4

Check the label on your cottage cheese to determine what one serving is. Measure out that serving using your measuring cup and place it in a bowl.

Step 5

Add fresh fruit such as blueberries, strawberries, or apples to your cottage cheese for a sweet snack before going to bed. Add tomatoes to your cottage cheese for variety. Eat this cottage cheese snack an hour or two before going to bed.
