Overview

Acne may be a result of food allergies, stress, or from skin care products that irritate sensitive, acne-prone skin. For example, using skin care products containing alcohol can dry skin, prompting it to produce more oil.
Use tea tree (Malaleuca alternifolia) oil as an anti-fungal antibacterial to help reduce and heal acne. Tea tree is found in many skin care products and can also be used diluted directly on acne.
Use lavender, clary sage and bergamont essential oils to help balance oil production and also heal skin. Lavender is gentle enough to use with infants.
Lastly, use jojoba oil to cleanse and moisturize. A plant wax, it's similar to the sebum your body naturally produces on the skin and scalp. It provides a light sunscreen protection of about SPF 8.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea trees are native to Australia. During World War I, tea tree oil was placed in the first aid kits of soldiers. It saved many lives my stopping infection from wounds.
Dab it lightly on acne. Dilute the oil on a cotton ball if you have sensitive skin. Use it daily for best results.

Lavender, Clary Sage, Bergamot

In a dark glass bottle, pour 3 oz. sweet almond oil and add 20 drops of each essential oil. After cleansing the skin, dab this mixture on a cotton ball and gently sweep it over the face. These essential oils smell terrific, and each have antibacterial qualities to reduce acne breakouts.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is excellent for use on the skin and hair. It's a wax that can be used on the face and entire body as a moisturizer. To treat acne, use it to cleanse skin by smoothing 1 tbsp. on clean hands and gently it rubbing over the skin. Rinse with warm water. After using tea tree oil and the other essential oils to balance oil production, apply a very thin layer of jojoba to moisturize skin. Use it sparingly: It will not clog pores.
Wear a light sunscreen if you go into the sun.
