A moment in time that will not be forgotten by Liam or his dad that was made possible by not only a great athlete but even a better person taking a few moments out of his busy day. We can all learn from that lesson.
by cdinsbca on June 29, 2009 at 1:39 PM
Great video! Climbing and conversation... Can't wait to see the race between Luke and Liam!

Lance, you are an inspiation to us all,how good was it to see you take time with liam,i would bet he thought all his birthdays had come on the same day, livestrong lance and get yourself on that podium in paris. You are the man.........closely followed by Liam.
by Quadpuss on June 29, 2009 at 2:53 PM
just one word: great.
by Blackwater on June 29, 2009 at 2:56 PM
It comes natural with Lance; he has passed me several times on Bee Caves Road in Austin and has always had a friendly greeting to offer. As opposed to some of the elitist riders who pass by and act as though you are invisible. Once he slowed to my pace for about 50 yards before powering away up a hill and out of site. I get that he's a nice guy.
by Blackwater on June 29, 2009 at 2:58 PM
ops, sight not site.
by LouJH on June 29, 2009 at 3:07 PM
How cool is that!! No doubt that made Liam and his father's day; that vid certainly made mine!! Way to go, Lance!!

by macmechanic707 on June 29, 2009 at 3:51 PM
Lance it's wonderful moments like these that can change the course of someone's life like Liam's. When we look back on our lives however brief our encounter was we find people that have made an impression on us and altered our course in life. Thanks Lance for spreading the word.
by mattbman on June 29, 2009 at 3:59 PM
That was a great video. I probably would have fallen off of my bike, but Liam stayed focused. Lance is such a great person.
by ceda1 on June 29, 2009 at 4:05 PM
Lance - Thank you for making a life long memory for my grandson, Liam Flanagan. He was on Cloud Nine when he called home today. You are his idol and now I can see why. You are really an inspiration to others but not one who feels he is above them. Again thanks.

how awesome is that. Must have made that kids day.
by rwwoodside on June 29, 2009 at 5:29 PM
That just goes to show why so many people have found inspiration in what you do and who you are. I love how Liam never lost his focus...most of us would have lost our composure and star gazed if you came riding up and started chatting. Awesome ride and awesome attitude. Thanks for sharing.

Liam is one giant of an eight year old ,and now the envy of his two younger brothers (who are also very fit).I believe Liam,s going to attempt climbing MV2 with his dad Bill later in the tour. by paulabrusig on June 29, 2009 at 9:32 PM
Our son (aged 5 1/2) is training for his first duathlon (2 mile run, 5.6 mile bike, I think it is). This gives us some ideas... My hubby and I both run, so we should do this as a family when our daughter is old enough, too. Lance, are you getting your kids into triathlons and biking? What great inspiration Liam and his father have provided doing the tour climbs, and of course, inspiration for all from Lance! We were there in 2001 when he took the day (and took control of the tour) on Alpe d'Huez! What a memory that was, and what a memory for young Liam seeing his idol on a climb. Go Lance, and go Liam!

LOL, Lance can't keep up with an 8 year old, and people say he'll go for number 8. Doesn't anybody wanna finish the joke here.
Cheers Lance.
I have request man.
When you arrive at the Champ-D'elysee, intead of drinking a class of wine and eating a girly snow cone, can you replace that by drinking a tall can of beer while eating some ribs. I think it's time you broke that tradition.

A small world indeed! I watched this video last Thursday (2nd July) before flying to Nice for the weekend to see Lance do what he does best in Monaco (and top up on original Livestrong wrist bands), and who should I bump into on the train back to Nice after the Time Trials on Saturday but Bill and the now famous Liam! It was an absolute pleasure meeting and talking to these guys. Bill and Liam are following the Tour and raising Cancer awareness. Including Lance, the three of you are an inspiration to the rest of us. Check out their website and follow their progress as I am on: www.fathersontour.com. If you get to read this, great to meet you guys and thanks for taking time out to speak to a complete stranger on the platform at Nice Ville! Best wishes Dean

I had Bill and Liam and the family over to my house a couple of weeks ago and they told me this awesome story. Lance, you are truly a class act. You not only made Liam's day, you made his LIFE! Liam is the future TDF winner!!!
