If you want toned legs like Sarah Jessica Parker’s, you’re going to have to start walking — a lot. The 53-year-old actress has revealed just how many steps she takes per day, and it’s pretty darn impressive.

Video of the Day

The New York City-based “Divorce” star said in a 2016 interview with “The Doctors” that her daily goal is 10,000 steps — the equivalent of about five miles per day. “I walk. I live in the city. I walk a lot,” she told host Travis Stork, M.D. And she said it also helps that she lives in a house with four or five flights of stairs!

The average American walks about 5,117 steps daily, according to a 2010 study published in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, which means SJP is taking twice as many steps as most of us. She also revealed that she uses a fitness monitor — a Fitbit — to keep track of her progress.

Fitness trackers (like Fitbit) are a great way to get motivated to start an exercise routine because they can hold you accountable for healthy habits and aid in weight loss.

To maximize results, it can be helpful to also use a food journal or calorie-tracking app like LIVESTRONG.COM’s MyPlate, which tracks your daily calories and exercise. It also offers meal plans, short workouts and a support community to help you reach all of your diet and fitness goals. (Carrie Underwood is a huge fan!)

Parker also revealed that swimming and kayaking are two of her other go-to workouts, especially during the summer, but that she realizes she needs to broaden her approach to fitness as she gets older. “I have to think more about things like bone density and lifting weights,” she added.

And she’s absolutely right! A 2015 study published in The Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness found that low-weight, high-repetition resistance training increased bone mineral density by 8 percent in the average adult and by up to 29 percent in postmenopausal women.

She also has a healthy approach to her diet, revealing that almond milk is her obsession. “I love it. I can’t figure out if it’s like an entire meal or desert, or thin and refreshing or thick like a milkshake. It’s like the gift that keeps on giving. I’m crazy for almond milk,” she said. Another healthy favorite of hers: artichoke hearts. “We always have them in the fridge,” she said. “They’re so freaking good!”
