About Healthe Trim Diet Pills
Filled with herbs, Healthe Trim claims it boosts energy and supports your metabolism. The diet pill contains green tea, hoodia, hydroxycitric acid - or HCA - and caralluma fimbriata. Though there's evidence that green tea and caralluma fimbriata may offer some assistance in helping you lose weight, hoodia and HCA are not considered effective at helping promote weight loss, according to the Office of Dietary Supplements.
The catechins and caffeine in green tea boost your metabolism a bit but may not lead to a significant amount of weight loss, according to a 2012 review study published in the "Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews." Caralluma fimbriata may help control appetite, but does not appear to be any better at helping people lose weight than a placebo, according to a 2007 clinical study published in "Appetite."
Caffeine in Green Tea
Two Healthe Trim pills, the suggested daily dose, has 175 milligrams of caffeine. The makers of the weight-loss pill admit that if you're sensitive to caffeine, the pill may make you jittery or disrupt your sleep. To improve sleep, it's suggested you not take the supplement after 3 p.m. The caffeine in the pill may also make you feel nervous, anxious or irritable and can cause heart palpitations.
If you drink coffee, cola or energy drinks in addition to your daily dose of Healthe Trim, you need to be aware of the total amount of caffeine you get in a day. An excessive intake of caffeine above what you get from the pill may lead to additional side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, headaches or loss of appetite. Four hundred milligrams of caffeine a day is considered a safe amount, according to the American Medical Association. For reference, 1 cup of coffee has about 100 milligrams of caffeine.
Side Effects of HCA, Hoodia and Caralluma Fimbriata
Less is known about the potential side effects you may experience from the HCA, hoodia and caralluma fimbriata in Healthe Trim. HCA, which is an extract from the Garcinia plant, is considered safe, according to the Office of Dietary Supplements. The most common complaints noted when taking the supplement include headaches, skin rash, the development of a cold or stomach upset, according to a 2011 review study on the weight-loss ingredient published in the "Journal of Obesity."
The side effects caused by hoodia have not yet been fully investigated, according to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health. But it has been known to cause dizziness, headaches and nausea, and is even linked to high blood pressure. Caralluma fimbriata is a cactus and a food regularly consumed in India. It's not known to cause ill effects, even when taken in extract form.
Diet Pills for Weight Loss
Looking at each individual ingredient, it appears that Healthe Trim may not cause any serious side effects. However, it's not known how all the ingredients may affect you when taken in combination. So little is known about these types of supplements that it's important you talk to your doctor first to discuss whether they're a good choice for you.
Also, you should not take any diet pills if you're nursing or pregnant, or taking any long-term medications for high blood pressure or depression. There's also concern that the ingredients in these pills may interact with various medications, such as blood thinners or seizure-controlling medicines. If you're struggling to lose weight, consider making an appointment with a registered dietitian who can help design a diet plan to start you on your weight-loss journey.
