Caring for your ski boots includes procedures to store them between each use and to store them during the off-season. The steps that you take when storing your ski boots provide proper hygiene and can significantly affect the lifespan of your boots.

After-Use Storage

Step 1

Remove the liner from your ski boots. If your boots do not have a removable liner, crunch some newspaper into a ball and place it in the toe of your ski boot to help absorb moisture.

Step 2

Use a damp washcloth to wipe the boot body and a toothbrush to clean debris from hard-to-reach areas, such as between buckles.

Step 3

Air dry your ski boots. If your boots are extremely wet, you can use a boot dryer as an alternative method.

Step 4

Store ski boots in a dark, dry environment, such as the corner of your closet. Do not store boots in a closed storage container because this can result in your ski boots developing an unpleasant odor.

Off-Season Storage

Step 1

Remove boot liners and wash by hand using a mild soap. Dry thoroughly.

Step 2

Clean your ski boots and dry them completely.

Step 3

Place a boot tree in each ski boot to ensure that it retains a proper form during off-season storage. Make sure that the tongue of the boot is lying flat.

Step 4

Buckle loosely as additional measure to ensure your ski boots retain their proper form.

Step 5

Place each boot in a separate plastic storage bag and store in a dry, dark environment.
