After spending a day cleaning, you don’t want your freshly moisturized hands to smear everything or your clothing. Some over-the-counter products are loaded with greasy ingredients and unwanted scent or chemicals. You can make your own non-greasy hand product with a few items from a crafting supply store. Using a non-greasy moisturizing lotion regularly on your hands will keep the skin supple and soft without a slippery, oily feeling.
Beeswax Based Hand Lotion
Combine ¾ cup of grated beeswax and ½ cup of almond or grapeseed oil into a double boiler.
Turn the heat on low and allow the beeswax to melt.
Pour the 1 cup of aloe vera into a medium-sized bowl. Add 10 drops of essential oil and 1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil to the mixture. Leave the essential oil out if you do not want fragrance.
Stir the ingredients together in the bowl with a metal spoon.
Add the melted beewax and oil mixture into a blender and let the mixture set to cool. The melted oils should come to room temperature before blending to avoid separation.
Blend the beeswax and oil mixture on low, slowly adding the aloe vera mixture to the blender. Turn off the blender every 10 seconds and rub a rubber spatula along the insides of the blender to mix the ingredients together. Continue blending until the mixture looks like lotion.
Scoop the lotion into sterile jars. Keep the lotion in the refrigerator for up to six weeks.
Semi Homemade Lotion
Combine 16 ounces of baby lotion with 8 ounces of coconut oil and 8 ounces of vitamin E cream in a large, glass bowl.
Use a handheld mixer to combine the ingredients together. The mixture should look like icing.
Spoon the lotion into air tight containers. You do not have to refrigerate this lotion.
