How to Remove a Smell From the Vagina

If you have an unpleasant vaginal odor, it can be very embarrassing, and it may be a sign of some sort of infection, or even poor personal hygiene. One of the most common vaginal infections that is associated with a fishy vaginal smell is called bacterial vaginosis, which is caused by gardnerella bacteria. This as well as other infections should be treated by your doctor. If you simply have a smelly vagina, there are home remedies that you can use to rid yourself of the bad odor.

Step 1

Use a vaginal douche to remove any unpleasant smell from the vagina. Before using it, talk to your doctor to make sure she recommends it for you. The downside of using a vaginal douche is that it can flush out other needed bacteria in your vagina, which can disturb your natural pH balance.

Step 2

Insert a fresh clove of garlic into your vagina by wrapping it in cheesecloth and attaching a string to it for removal. Garlic has anti-fungal properties that can bring yeast in check, which can eliminate vaginal odors. You can also make a garlic paste and apply it to the vagina externally.

Step 3

Dip a tampon in all-natural yogurt and then insert it into your vagina. Yogurt contains healthy bacteria that can balance the pH of the vagina, and reduce the spread of yeast infections. Use all-natural yogurt with no sugar or fruit added, that has live and active cultures.

Step 4

Add three drops of tea tree oil into a cup of water and apply it to your vagina. Tea tree oil has anti-fungal properties that aids in the treatment of vaginal odor.

Only wash the vagina twice a day with a unscented soap. Washing more frequently can disturb your pH balance, causing your problem to worsen.

Limit the amount of foods that you eat which contain artificial sweeteners or high carbohydrates.
