How to Use an Avent Bottle Warmer

Avent bottle warmers, made by Philips, provide a quick and efficient way to warm-up your baby's milk, formula or solid baby foods. Philips makes two different types of Avent bottle warmers. The first one has a simple knob for setting the temperature of the unit.

The other is a digital unit with multiple settings, depending on what and how much you are heating. Both use hot water to bring either a bottle or food container to the proper temperature.

Place the warmer on a stable, level surface, and plug it in. Place the warmer basket in the warmer base.

Place the filled, assembled baby bottle or food container in the warmer. For smaller bottles or containers, fill the warmer with water to just above the level of milk in the bottle or food in the container. For larger bottles or containers, fill the warmer with water to just below the rim of the warmer.

Turn the warmer on. Turn the knob on the front of the warmer to setting 3. For smaller bottles, leave them in the warmer for 4 to 5 minutes. For medium bottles, warm them for 5 to 7 minutes and for larger bottles, 6 to 7 1/2 minutes. Baby food containers should be heated for 4 1/2 to 5 minutes. Some special bottles from Avent use setting 2.

Remove the bottle or container from the warmer after the appropriate time has passed. Test the milk or food temperature before feeding your baby to avoid burns.

Warnings

To prevent bacterial contamination, do not reheat milk that has already been heated.

Keep hands away from the warmer during the warming cycle, and open the warmer carefully at the end of the warming cycle to avoid scalding burns from excess steam or hot water.
