Almased is an all-natural metabolism drink available in shake form. It was created by scientist and holistic therapist Hubertus Trouillé to increase metabolism in his patients as an aid to weight loss and to maintain an ideal weight. In addition to its metabolism shake, Almased sells a wellness tea designed to promote healthy detoxification by increasing kidney function and to aid in providing a restful sleep.

Soy Protein Isolate

The main ingredient in Almased is soy protein isolate. According, soy protein isolate is the highest protein soy source. Made from defatted soy protein, soy protein isolate contains up to 90 percent protein. Soy protein isolate is combined with other ingredients, mainly for shakes and meal replacements, to provide healthy protein without carbohydrates. It also contains all the essential amino acids in a low-fat ingredient.

Skim Milk Yogurt Powder

Skim milk yogurt powder is the second ingredient in Almased. According to WebVitamins, it provides the body with another source of muscle-building protein. Being made with skin milk makes it non-fat, and it's a good source of calcium and riboflavin. Skim milk yogurt powder is easier on the digestion due to a reduced amount of lactose.

When adding the Almased powder to liquid such as juice or water, the yogurt powder creates a thickness similar to a shake.

Honey Enzymes

Honey enzymes are added to create fermentation. According to the Almased website, its product includes raw honey to promote fermentation and to aid in digestion. Raw honey is unprocessed to retain all the natural vitamins and minerals as well as all the natural enzymes to promote healthy digestion.

Almased, with all the natural and unprocessed ingredients in its formula, contains vitamins A, E and C.

According to, vitamin A is an antioxidant and aids in proper cellular replication. Vitamin C, another antioxidant, aids in cell division, protects against free radicals, and metabolizes fat.

Vitamin E also has antioxidant properties, and aids in proper cellular replication with vitamins A and C. According to Exercise Prescription, vitamin E is in adipose tissue and weight loss can reduce the amount of vitamin E in the body.

Three B vitamins are added to Almased: thiamin, riboflavin and B6. Thiamin aids in proper functioning of muscular, nervous and digestive systems. Riboflavin helps the body properly convert glutathione, a tripeptide consisting of glutamate, cysteine and glyceine. Allan Somersall, Ph.D., M.D., and author of "Breakthrough in Cell Defense" says, "Without glutathione, other important antioxidants such as vitamins C and E cannot do their job adequately to protect your body against disease."

Vitamin B6 provides the body with the energy it requires, which can lessen during weight loss programs.

Amino Acids

The essential amino acids are, as the name indicates, essential for proper body functioning. The human body makes 10 of the 20 needed, and does not store any of the amino acids. They are required each day to be replenished.

The amino acids in Almased are isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, valine, tyrosine and histidine. Amino acids work together; the exclusion of one may cause the others not to provide the body with any benefits.
