Eggs

Two large eggs contain 144 calories. To save calories, you can use egg whites, which have about 17 calories each, or a fat-free liquid egg substitute, which contains 58 calories per 1/2-cup serving.

Cheese

One-quarter cup of feta cheese contains 99 calories, while 1/4 cup of cream cheese contains 198 calories and 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese contains 114 calories. Low-fat and fat-free cheeses contain less calories than full-fat ones. For example, 1/4 cup of low-fat cheddar cheese is only 49 calories.

Butter

If you fry your eggs in canola oil, add 124 calories for every tablespoon you use. If you prefer butter, it's 102 calories per tablespoon. To save calories, use a nonfat cooking spray, which has zero calories.

Toppings

If you like chopped, fresh tomatoes on top of your scrambled eggs, allow 8 calories for 1/4 cup. Chives have 4 calories per tablespoon, while salsa has 17 calories per 1/4-cup serving.
